This is my site. It is the only one I have ever made for me. This site will allow ANY user to actively look for a job while they pursue other things in life. While I agree that this site doesn’t look like much it has served me well since 2007 when I wrote it. I found myself un-employed and desperate. I started applying for jobs and found the whole online thing to be very inefficient. It was so frustrating to apply for jobs and never hear back! It seemed like I spent all day to send only a few resumes out. My process caused poor results. Ajob4rob.com was born from this frustration.

I wrote this site in four hours on the porch smoking a cigar. It flowed more easily than almost anything I have ever written. It was like my thoughts were being guided by a higher power. I started as I always have, with a pen, paper, and an idea. I sketched out what I thought would make this process easier. Then I coded the site. The database scheme flowed from function. Relationships and queries were originally written into the code and later changed into T-SQL. The design came later.

What I ended up with was a site that enabled me to upload an unlimited number of resumes, references, and cover letters. It allowed me to send out bulk email in any number I liked. If I was feeling lazy, I could just bulk send out my resume to as many people as posted jobs. If I was more particular, I could specify for which jobs I applied. It tracked who read my email, if they forwarded it, which version they read, how often, and from what IP address. It also includes some basic network tools like ping, whois, and tracert. These tools allowed me to gain insight into WHO was looking. The fact that it showed that people were reading my resume allowed me to tweak my resume to turn that view into a phone call for an interview.

The first time I used this system was in Tampa, Fl. I sent out about 16,000 resumes in one throw. My phone rang off the HOOK! I finally had to turn it off. I meet up with a recruiters and showed him this system. His response was "Man, your spamming us." I told him I thought it was fair since ordinarily they spam me. He said "yea, but your tools are better". Of course, I said "maybe you should hire me and yours can be better too". He said he would find me a job...I told him I doubt he could since I couldn't find one for myself. Two weeks later he called and said "Everyone I have talked to about you has either already interviewed you or knows about you". That seemed promising.

Please enjoy this site. I wrote it for everyone. It is, as it has always been, a work in progress that is free for all to use. You are required to validate your email and that is all. Your email address and other information will NEVER be sold. If you have comments or suggestions please email me at rob@ajob4rob.com . I would love to hear from you.

This site is my gift to everyone looking for a job.
